I picked this up at a yard sale. I think either the screen or the
digitizer is broken, but I guess it could be the motherboard. When
you apply power, all you get on the screen is a single vertical line
in the middle of the screen. If anyone has one of these that I could
use for parts, please don't be shy! Give me a shout...
Running the Palm 3.2 operating system, this is designed to survive
the rough treatment that warehouse life can dish out - they say that
it can survive a four foot drop on to concrete and come out unscathed.
It's main selling point is the integrated SE 900 barcode scanner.
Although the SPT1700 is meant to be used for inventory and control, I
am sure that I can come up with other uses for it. Keeping track of
my vast video and book collection springs to mind.
One noteworthy specification is impressive indeed - the battery life
is said to be 10 hours of normal use from it's 3.7v 1400mAH Li-Ion
battery pack.
