Yet another system that we no longer own, for one reason or another...

Found a complete system at a local HamFest (well, somewhat local) this past weekend for $10! It came with the computer (of course!), floppy disk drive, some ham radio interface box, the power supplies and manuals for all three units, two BASIC programming cartridges and two additional 16K RAM cards (for a total of 48K RAM). I haven't tried the disk drive yet, but the only problem with the computer itself was the keyboard didn't respond. All that took was taking the keyboard apart and cleaning the key switch contacts. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good deal.

I can tell you that the shielding in this thing is amazing. Thick aluminum surrounding most of the circuitry makes for a pretty effective Faraday cage!

Available peripherals included the standard arsenal of devices for it's time - floppy disk drive, data cassette recorder, acoustically coupled modem, standard (more modern by today's standards) plug in modem, dot-matrix printer, RS232 interface, external numeric keypad, joysticks and paddle controls. Software came in the form of a floppy disk, a cassette tape or a plug in cartridge (the 800 had two cartridge ports whereas the 400 only had one).
