Robosapien
Humanoid robots are getting closer! Designed by former NASA, DARPA and JPL scientist Mark Tilden, this is an amazing piece of engineering - especially for a robot that is well with the reach of the average Joe. This guy will keep you entertained for hours at a time! You control his every move through a handheld infrared remote (so you can't send him on reconnaissance missions out of line of sight), but you can program up to 84 command steps from a pool of 67 individual commands to provide some pretty complicated maneuvers. He can even dance and perform kung-fu. Not to mention that this robot was meant to be hacked! All of the sensors, motors and control points on the internal circuit boards are silkscreened for easy identification. Hacking books and web sites abound. The silver one is the one that I intend to hack - if I ever get time. I swear days need to be longer...
