The last in the TRS-80 line, the Model 4 was probably the least popular. Like the
Model III before it, this system provided connections for a cassette tape recorder,
a parallel printer as well as an internal 25-pin RS232 serial port. You could add
two external 5¼" floppy disk drives in addition to the two internal units. With the
Model 4 came the additional support of an external hard drive. As for an operating
system, you could choose to run LPDOS, TRSDOS or, new to the Model 4 - CP/M.
There was a portable model, the 4P, produced in 1984 and the final version, the 4D,
came about in 1986. The 4D was nearly identical to the original except for using
double sided floppy drives instead of single sided.
