This device is an interactive electronic book reader. It takes 3" pre-recorded compact discs that are packed in a caddy, although this model will work without the cadddy. In addition to ebooks, this will also play 3" audio CDs.

I picked this unique ( in my opinion ) item up at a local HamFest for $5. While it was interesting, and fun for awhile, there's only so much entertainment to be had in the encyclopedia that came with it. Since titles for this are rare and hard to come by, I figured it would be relegated to the back of a closet... until I came across a website that offers free software to create your own ebooks ( up to 4 million bytes of text for the free version - up to 200 million bytes if you register ). That software - DD8 - can be found at:
