Unlike the other robotic dogs in my collection, Dog.com (pronounced dog dot com) actually looks more like a dog than a robot. There isn't too much information available on this little toy, I think mostly because with a name like 'Dog.com' it's kinda hard to do an internet search on it.
Since he is so hard to come by, I was lucky enough to find a seller on eBay in the United Kingdom that had it listed for a fantastic, almost giveaway price. When he arrived home from his trip across the pond, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that he has a very distinct British accent. When I bought him, it didn't even occur to me that he might himself be British! And then I saw the charger. I had also forgot that they have 220 volt mains over there. Luckily, it's a standard 6v rechargable battery pack so I didn't have any problem charging it.
Like all robotic pets, Dog.com starts life out as a puppy. The personality he has when he grows up depends on how he is treated during each stage of his life. As a puppy, he doesn't walk or talk. He pretty much just barks and whimpers. As he 'grows', he slowly starts talking more, eventually being capable of over 700 phrases and sounds. Then with eight sensors and fourty-five different movements, you'll have your hands busy with your new pet.
All in all, I would have to say that, out of all the robotic pets I own, Tomy's Dog.com is by far the coolest.
