When I was a kid growing up, I always had Capsela building systems. This is sort of like a futuristic plastic erector set. Some of the clear plastic capsules are empty, while others house gear sets, axles, motors or even a rotary switch. You snap these together with clear plastic couplers to create designs limited only by your imagination.

This set is unique in that it has a specific theme - robotics. Instead of the usual separate clear single or double battery holder and a square yellow on-off-on switch, they are combined into a single robotic head along with a robotic voice module. Instructions are included that show the designs for four separate projects. When you flip the switch, the robot will speak a few pre-recorded phrases and then move (rather rapidly) in the direction you chose with the switch.
